Beaufort County has introduced a new emergency alert system, SiRcom SMART Alert, replacing the previous Hyper-Reach platform. Residents are being asked to register for the updated service to receive notifications about weather, public safety, environmental hazards, evacuation orders, and other important topics.
The county clarified that information from the former Hyper-Reach system will not be transferred automatically. All residents must sign up again with their phone numbers and email addresses to ensure they continue receiving alerts.
“Mass notification is a critical part of any emergency response,” said Beaufort County Emergency Management Coordinator DC Linton. “Signing up for this service is a great way to ensure you receive timely alerts that will help you stay prepared and safe in an emergency.”
To register for alerts, individuals can visit beaufort.sircom.org/subscribe and enter their contact information. Users may provide specific addresses such as home, work, or schools to tailor the alerts they receive. After submitting the form, users should look for a confirmation message by text or email and check spam folders if necessary.
Those who need to update their registration details after signing up can do so at beaufort.sircom.org/account by following login prompts.
