CarolinaEast Health System is organizing its 11th Annual Pregnancy and Infant Loss Bereavement Ceremony on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. The event aims to honor the memory of babies lost due to miscarriage, stillbirth, and other causes.
The ceremony coincides with Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in October, a national observance that seeks to raise awareness and provide information about available community resources for families who have experienced the loss of a child. CarolinaEast’s Pregnancy and Infant Loss Bereavement Committee supports affected families throughout the year by offering gestures such as Mother’s Day cards, handmade Christmas ornaments, and ongoing emotional support.
“We at CarolinaEast are honored to continue this special event for those we are privileged to care for,” said Heather Ecklund, RN on the Women’s and Children’s Pavilion at CarolinaEast Medical Center and Pregnancy and Infant Loss Bereavement Coordinator. “This is an opportunity for families to come together to promote healing and comfort during a time of pain and heartache and to look towards the future with hope.”
Guests can arrive at Martin Marietta Park Canal Shelter #2 starting at 6:00 p.m., with the ceremony beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will also be streamed live on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/carolinaeasthealth/. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP so their baby’s name can be included during the ceremony by calling 252-633-8838.
