City of Elizabeth City Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

The holidays are here and it’s a great feeling seeing all the decorations! 

The Elizabeth City Police Department wants to help you keep some safety tips in mind to help ensure we keep catastrophes at bay.

-Keep your tree watered daily.

-Trim the stump.

-Inspect tree lights for exposed wires, and more.

-Examine cords and light sockets for damage.

-Keep tree away from heat sources.
