City of New Bern issued the following announcement on Jan. 16.

Have you heard the rumors about a winter storm impacting eastern NC later this week?

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

1. While it is still too far out to nail down details (precipitation types and accumulations), there is potential for eastern North Carolina to receive impacts from a winter storm late this week (beginning as early as Thursday) into the weekend.

2. NOW is the time to make sure you are prepared for winter weather. Visit weather.gov/mhx/wwaw for a refresher on winter weather preparedness tips, and share this post to help spread the word.

3. Be cautious of where you get your information. There is no shortage of misleading information being shared in the name of “clicks.” Reliable sources include US National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC  , NC Emergency Management , North Carolina Department of Transportation, local news stations, and your county and community officials.
