County of Beaufort issued the following announcement on Jan. 15.

The State of North Carolina has provided a limited supply of N-95 masks for distribution to the public.  A maximum of 2 masks per person can be picked up at the Beaufort County DSS office, 632 W 5th Street, Washington, NC 27889.  Supplies are limited and are available on a first-come first-served basis.

These masks are provided by the State of North Carolina and Beaufort County assumes no liability for them.  By asking for a mask, you are assuming all responsibility for its proper use and agree to hold Beaufort County harmless.
