COUNTY OF BEAUFORT: U.S. 17 Widening Groundbreaking

County of Beaufort issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.

Beaufort County commissioners, along with Martin County officials and NC Department of Transportation officials, participated in the U.S. 17 widening groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, August 25, 2022.  

The $86 million project will widen 10.6 miles of the highway north of Highway 171 near the Old Ford community to the existing four lanes just south of Williamston.  Work should be complete by the summer of 2026.
