County of Craven issued the following announcement on May 24.

There are several medications for opioid overdose, withdrawal, and addiction that are safe, effective, and can save lives. Buprenorphine is one medication that eases a person’s withdrawal symptoms and cravings from opioids, which may allow them to focus on strengthening connections with friends and family, searching for and maintaining a job, and more. It is an opioid receptor partial agonist that attaches to, and partially activates, opioid receptors in the brain.
