FOIA Request to Beaufort County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

At IBX News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. In our continuous efforts to uphold transparency and accountability in public institutions, we have sent a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Beaufort County Election Department.

Our request specifically seeks access to the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the county’s elections. We have asked for these reports in PDF format with specific fields including the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed.

As a media organization actively involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information.

We eagerly await a response from the Beaufort County Election Department and will continue striving towards providing transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
