FOIA Request to Beaufort County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

On February 5, 2025, we at IBX News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Beaufort County Election Department in North Carolina. Our request was made under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., and we asked for the information to be provided in an electronic format.

The specific records we requested include a comprehensive list of all candidates running in the upcoming election. For each candidate, we have asked for their first name, middle name, last name, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office and party affiliation.

In addition to this basic information about each candidate, we also requested contact details for each individual. This includes their address, phone number and email address.

We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request.

We look forward to receiving this information from the Beaufort County Election Department so that we can continue our work in informing our readers about their local government and upcoming elections.
