FOIA Request to Bertie County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at IBX News have sent a request for public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Bertie County Election Department. The request specifically seeks access to pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the county’s elections.

The information requested includes the date of the tests, the manufacturers of the machines, their model numbers, and whether each machine passed or failed its pre-election test. We have asked for these records to be provided in PDF format.

As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to such records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also believe that as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue our work in providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs and will update our readers once we receive a response from the Bertie County Election Department.
