FOIA Request to Tyrrell County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at IBX News have submitted a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. The request was made in an effort to access pre-election test reports for election voting machines within the county.

Specifically, we have asked for these reports in PDF format with specific fields including the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed. This information is crucial as it provides insight into the reliability and integrity of the voting machines used in the elections.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.

We await response from Tyrrell County Election Department regarding this request.
