FOIA Request to Washington County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

In our ongoing efforts at IBX News to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Washington County Election Department. Our request is for records of all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

We are seeking detailed information about each candidate, including their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. We have also requested contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to follow this story closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
