Roanoke Rapids Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 15.

As the impending snow storm approaches we would like to remind people of a few things.  

1.  Pulling children on sleds or trash can lids behind a vehicle is dangerous and illegal.  We will charge you with careless driving( 4 points on you insurance). 

2.  Operating a 4-wheeler on city streets is a misdemeanor crime which means you can actually be arrested.  It is not ok.  We know people are going to do it.  ADVANCED WARNING.  We will not be issuing warnings.  You will get charges.  Parents you will get charges if you let your kids do it. 

3.  Please stay off the roads if they get bad.  If your job doesn’t require you to work, stay off the streets.  Emergency responders will be out and response times will be slower.  

4.  Go get your bread and milk today!
