Covid 19 message from mayor

Town of Ahoskie recently issued the following announcement.

Dear Ahoskie Residents,

This letter comes at a time in our history that is quite unprecedented. As your Mayor, I would like to assure you that we are taking necessary precautions and doing all we can to ensure the safety and well-being of all our residents. The Coronavirus/COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving global health crisis. It is important that all town residents, businesses, and organizations help to safeguard our community.

Precautionary actions such as frequent hand washing, social distancing, limiting travel, and considering alternative methods of gatherings are ways that help to prevent contraction and the spread of this virus.  Our local indoor gym has been closed until further notice. However, the outdoor recreational facilities remain open. The Town of Ahoskie has alternative payment options for town utility payments, these include online payments at www.ahoskienc.gov and pay-by-phone at 1-855-997-7543.

I would like to thank Hertford County and our local medical community for their rapid response and emergency preparedness actions taken to minimize the chances of community spread. For more local information, please visit Hertford County’s website here, as well as, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and Center for Disease Control for the latest updates throughout the state and nation. We are going to great lengths as a community to protect you and your loved ones at this time. Please stay safe, do not panic, and use good judgement during this time.

Mayor Weyling J. White
