The North Carolina Legislature wrapped up the short session in July without officially adjourning as it waits for Gov. Roy Cooper to sign off on some legislation.
Before the session wrapped up, Cooper signed legislation that is the GSC Confirming Amends/Land Use Regulatory Changes, the North Carolina Home Builders Association said in a recent press release.
This bill will ensure the NCHAB's effort to enact beneficial changes to "local planning and land use laws" will remain preserved.
House Bill 873 was also sent to the governor for a signature after being approved by both the House and Senate.
There was also legislation sent to the governor to sign known as the System Development Fee/ADU Sewer Permit bill. The policy "amends the law to move the time for the payment of system development fees for subdivisions from plat recordation to the later of building permit application or when the water and sewer service is committed," the NCHAB said in the press release.
The Condominium Association Changes is also waiting on Cooper's signature. This bill will update condominium statutes.
The COVID Liability Safe Harbor bill will make sure civil immunity protections can protect not just essential businesses, but schools, nonprofits, colleges and more, according to the press release. This bill is also waiting for the governor's signature.
