Sixty new job opportunities are coming to Greenville as an Eastern Carolina boatbuilder company is expanding its business to the area.

A new World Cat production facility is slated to open on Staton Road, bringing the jobs with it, WITN reported on Aug. 6. The company currently has a plant in Tarboro that employs 180 people.

"More good jobs news as Eastern North Carolina boatbuilder World Cat is expanding in Greenville," Rep. Keith Kidwell (R-Beaufort) said in a Facebook post on Aug. 10. "The $8.8 million expansion is expected to bring 60 jobs. World Cat president, Andrew Brown said, 'North Carolina has been a strong partner for World Cat the past 20 years and is a big part of our success.'"

The company received a $180,000 performance grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce to help fund the expansion into Greenville, which will cost $8.8 million, WITN reported.
