Graduates earn 234 degrees from Chowan University

About 17.1 percent of the 234 degrees and certificates handed out by Chowan University in 2017-18 were to students in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Murfreesboro conferred 40 bachelor's degrees in homeland security, law enforcement, firefighting and related protective services programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in criminal justice/safety studies. Data shows the school gave out 40 bachelor's degrees in criminal justice/safety studies, followed by 36 bachelor's degrees in general multi-/interdisciplinary studies and 34 bachelor's degrees in general business administration and management.

The university enrolled 1,399 students for 2017-18, including 1,395 in undergraduate programs and 4 in graduate programs.
