In a Facebook post, Rep. Ed Goodwin (R-Bertie) praised the people who reside in his district, adding that it is an honor to serve District 1.
"It is an honor to serve the people of House District 1, which includes Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington counties," Goodwin said in the Sept. 9 Facebook post, linking to a YouTube video.
The state legislator also mentioned his service in the military, as he makes his re-election bid. He said as a veteran, he knows what it means to serve the American people.
"As a military veteran and someone who served my country for over three decades, I understand what it means to put service over self," Goodwin stated. "It is also what motivated me to run for the General Assembly and fight for the people of northeastern North Carolina."
Goodwin is running against Democratic challenger Emily Nicholson to represent District 1.
