CITY OF NEW BERN: MetroNet Begins Construction in New Bern

Construction

City of New Bern issued the following announcement on Feb. 9.

Construction has begun in New Bern to install MetroNet's 100% fiber optic network.  The City will use this page to post updates and information about the ongoing project so that residents and businesses can keep up with MetroNet's progress.

Representatives were in New Bern earlier this year to present information to the Board of Aldermen about what residents can expect as construction begins. Click on the following link to view the Powerpoint Presentation or click on the link below to watch the meeting video. The City has also worked with MetroNet to produce an educational video of what residents can expect as construction begins. That video is featured below as well.

MetroNet estimates the project will take 2-3 years to complete installation and expects to have their first customers in service by spring 2022.  They've created a website dedicated to all things construction-related, and you can visit that site here  www.metronetinc.com/construction.  On that site you'll find Frequently Asked Questions and informational videos. You can also notify MetroNet of any potential property concerns.

Residents will first receive a letter in the mail announcing MetroNet's upcoming construction.  That letter will arrive approximately 45-30 days before construction begins.  Then,  as construction nears, you'll receive a postcard, find an alert flag in your yard, and see neighborhood signs posted along major routes.

If you're interested in MetroNet service, check availability and pricing info by visiting www.metronetinc.com/iwantfiber or by calling (877)386-3876.
