City of Havelock issued the following announcement on Aug. 22.
Please see the attached Community Awareness Notification pertaining to a likely case of Feline Distemper near the Pineview Street area. It should be noted that this virus does not infect people.
The Havelock Police department and Havelock Animal Control would like to advise the community of an ongoing situation involving cats and particularly kittens.
Havelock Animal Control has been investigating a situation near Pineview Street. May kittens in the area are very sick or have been found deceased.
