City of Havelock issued the following announcement on March 17.

Notice is hereby given that the Havelock Board of Commissioners will hold four (4) Public/Legislative Hearings in the Havelock City Hall Auditorium, located at 1 Governmental Avenue, Havelock, NC on Monday, April 10, 2023, with the first beginning at 7:05 p.m., or as soon as the matter can be reached, and the remaining following immediately thereafter. The purpose of the hearings is to receive public comments on:

1.  Proposed Text Amendment to Havelock City Code Chapter 53, Stormwater Management and related sections of the City Code and Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) and adoption of the Local Program Document to Implement Neuse Stormwater Rules. 

Copies of the request are available for review by the public at the City Planning Department, 1 Governmental Ave., Havelock, NC 28532 during normal office hours and on the City’s website at https://www.havelocknc.us/DocumentCenter/View/858/Draft-Neuse-River-Basin-Stormwater-Ordinance-for-New

-Development and https://www.havelocknc.us/DocumentCenter/View/863/Draft-Havelock-Local-Program-Document-to-Implement-Neuse-Stormwater-Rules.

 All interested parties are urged to attend. Citizens are invited to make written or oral comments on any of the above listed public hearings. For additional information please contact City Planning Director Katrina Marshall, AICP at (252) 444-6433.  Substantial changes in the proposed amendment may be made following the public hearing. 

City of Havelock CAMA Land Use Plan for adoption. 

2.  Notice is hereby given that the Board of Commissioners of the City of Havelock, North Carolina, will conduct a public hearing on April 24, 2023, at 7:00 PM or as soon as the matter can be reached to review adoption of the City of Havelock Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) Land Use Plan. The meeting will be held in the Havelock City Hall Auditorium, 1 Governmental Avenue, Havelock, NC. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.

 Following the public hearing, the Board of Commissioners will consider adoption of the CAMA Land Use Plan. Once adopted, the plan will be submitted to the Coastal Resources Commission for certification.

Written objections, comments, or statements of support shall be submitted to the Division of Coastal Management’s District Planner, Rachel Love-Adrick, 400 Commerce Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557, no more than 30 calendar days after local adoption of the plan. Further information can be obtained by contacting the District Planner at 252-808-2808.  

 Copies of the CAMA Land Use Plan are available for review by the public at the Havelock City Hall, 1 Governmental Avenue, Havelock, NC, during normal office hours and on the City’s website at https://www.havelocknc.us/DocumentCenter/View/845/DRAFT-CAMA-Land-Use-Plan_12-14-2022.

 The public is encouraged to review the CAMA Land Use Plan and to attend the public hearing. For additional information, please contact the City Planning Director at 252-444-6433.
