Born in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, in 1957, Dwight Stephenson played college football at the University of Alabama. He was a center for the Miami Dolphins from 1980 to 1987. Stephenson earned recognition as a top NFL center during his career. He was selected to five Pro Bowls and named All-Pro five times. He helped the Dolphins maintain a strong offensive line and led the team in multiple playoff appearances. Stephenson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998. After retiring, he worked in construction and stayed connected to football through support of his college team. His career and roots link him closely to Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
