FOIA Request Sent to Craven County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024

FOIA Request to Craven County Election Department Regarding Voting Machines Pre-Election Test Report on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at IBX News have sent a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Craven County Election Department.

Our request specifically pertains to the pre-election test reports of voting machines used in the county's elections. We are seeking these records in an electronic format, preferably PDF, with specific fields including the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed).

We believe that access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information as a media organization, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the Craven County Election Department and will continue our efforts to ensure transparency in local government affairs.
