FOIA Request to Craven County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at IBX News have submitted a request for records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1. Our request is specifically for information about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The details we have requested include each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation. We have also asked for contact information for each candidate, including their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to these public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We also believe that as a media professional disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
