FOIA Request Sent to Pasquotank County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Pasquotank County Election Department in North Carolina on October 30, 2024. The request, issued by IBX News, sought access to pre-election voting machine test reports under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

The requested records are expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of readiness and reliability of the voting machines ahead of the upcoming elections. Specifically, we asked for these records in PDF format with details including the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether each machine passed or failed its pre-election test.

As a media organization committed to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, IBX News believes that access to such public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.

In line with our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We believe this will facilitate our efforts in bringing timely and relevant news updates regarding election preparedness to our audience.

We eagerly await a response from the Pasquotank County Election Department and remain committed to keeping our readers informed about developments in this matter.
