Washington Regional Medical Center has successfully achieved reaccreditation as a Level II Trauma Center by the Arkansas Department of Health. This designation is part of the Arkansas Trauma System and follows a thorough two-day, on-site inspection of the medical center's trauma program.

The facility offers the highest level of trauma care in the region for critically injured patients, with 24/7 readiness from specialists in general surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology, and critical care. In 2024 alone, Washington Regional's Trauma Center treated 3,058 trauma patients. Of these patients, 419 were transferred from other facilities across Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

"This reaccreditation demonstrates Washington Regional’s commitment to fulfilling our mission of improving the health of people in the communities we serve," stated Birch Wright, Chief Operating Officer at Washington Regional. "As part of that commitment, Washington Regional is now taking steps to obtain designation as a Level I Trauma Center. In the coming years, Washington Regional and members of our trauma team will work to meet criteria for Level I designation."

Beyond initial treatment, Washington Regional’s trauma services aim to provide best-practice care throughout a patient's hospital stay to ensure optimal outcomes. The trauma team collaborates with local emergency response agencies and works to facilitate rehabilitation placement for those needing further assistance before returning home. Additionally, they offer community education on trauma and injury prevention.
