CarolinaEast Medical Center has once again been recognized in Newsweek's annual "World’s Best Hospitals" rankings. For the seventh straight year, the center is listed among the top hospitals in the United States. In the 2025 rankings, CarolinaEast placed at 110 out of 6,120 hospitals nationwide.
This recognition is part of Newsweek’s continued effort to highlight top-performing healthcare institutions. The rankings are created following a comprehensive evaluation process which includes an online survey of medical experts and analysis of patient experience and hospital quality metrics. The rankings also consider the implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
Alexis Kayser, Healthcare Editor at Newsweek, emphasized the importance of these rankings by stating: "Few decisions carry more weight than selecting a hospital for yourself or a loved one."
CarolinaEast also performed above the national average in infection prevention measures. Earlier this year, it was ranked seventh in North Carolina by Newsweek’s list of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2025. Additionally, CarolinaEast was featured in the February 28 issue of Business NC as one of the top hospitals in the state.
Michael Smith, President and CEO of CarolinaEast Health System, acknowledged the achievement by recognizing the dedication of their employees: “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our 3,200+ employees that we are once again included among the best hospitals in the nation and state.”
